Do you love cars? Fast cars? Vintage cars? Then this festival is right up your alley.
Cartist is an organization aiming to promote art and give young artists a platform to showcase their works. They held a festival in 2015 to create and showcase cars and car-related art like paintings, sketches, pen work, sculptures, fiber body installations etc. Every year since 2015, hundreds of artists from all over India come to Jaipur to combine vintage cars and bikes with funky artwork to make these beautiful masterpieces on wheels.
Cartist is an initiative by Jaipur-based Himanshu Jangrid, who restores vintage cars for royalty in Rajasthan. While restoring these cars, he realized how wonderful they are. These cars that he renovates usually get parked in garages, forgotten to the world. Instead he wants to bring these cars out to be photographed, painted, celebrated and appreciated for the craftsmanship that went into them. So he created this one-of-a-kind event where young and experienced artists come together to promote Rajasthani culture and art using vintage cars as a canvas. This is also a great opportunity for artists to make and sell their art to collectors who are interested.
Here’s a fun review by Wion Pitstop of Cartist Jaipur. Our thoughts exactly!!
Where were you when this festival happened in Jaipur? Make sure you book your tickets for the next time. When you attend, don’t forget to feast your eyes to vintage beauties by BMW, Maserati, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Chevrolet, etc. Maybe if you got the moolah, you can buy one of these masterpieces for yourself. 😉
P.S. Let alone cars, Cartist Jaipur has even helped beautify Jaipur city with some breathtaking murals. Also, if you’ve noticed old rajasthani motifs painted in a kitschy style on autorickshaws, you know who to credit. Take a looksy at Cartist’s Youtube Videos below and let us know what you think.
We couldn’t help venture around Jaipur and click some art designed by @Cartist around Jaipur. How do you like these clicks by @thephotogaffer?
